Tap Night Tacoma #8, Jacob Leonard, and a cask of Homo Erectus walk into a bar…
Tap Night Tacoma, the Tacoma-wide monthly collaborative cask ale event, is going down again this Monday, January 10th. On deck at TRH is a special firkin cask of Walking Man Brewing’s Homo Erectus.
This amazing beer was the stuff of legend, and rightly gained cult status. Walking Man’s reputation was further raised by being named Ratebeer.com‘s 2010’s 15th Best Brewpub in the world to visit.
WM Head Brewer Jacob Leonard caused a wave in the beer world when he announced he was leaving Walking Man for a position at Portland’s Widmer Brothers.

As a last request to him before he moved on to his new digs, he fulfilled our wish of preparing a mighty cask of Homo Erectus Imperial IPA. I knew he was a man after my own heart when he asked with a smile if he could “dry hop the hell out of it”. The firkin we tap this Monday is what he made for us, and I’m giddy as hell just thinking about it.

We, like all Tap Night participants, will tap this cask at 6pm on Monday January 10th. No growler fills. As always, when it’s gone, it’s gone.
